Title: E-Smith Install over network?
Post by: Craig on October 09, 2001, 10:58:03 AM
Hi,

The downloads page says that it is only possible to install e-smith from a cd-rom. Unfortunately I don't have a CD-R. I've got a small home lan. Is it possible to install E-Smith by downloading the ISO and then serving it over my home lan?

I use smoothwall as my firewall, and it provides an option to do this, by using a boot disk. Does anyone know of a work around?

i have installed via nfs before on e-smith-3.*

i exported the e-smith cd from my redhat pc
[now my memory is getting foggy]
i changed the ks.cfg to use nfs instead of cdrom
look at a netboot.img ks.cfg for ideas

Why don't you install a CD-ROM temporarily on your PC, install E-Smith, then remove the CD-ROM?

THis would be much quicker.

Serge.
