Title: Getting to command prompt

I can't get to the command prompt I hit alt-F2 to get past the menu and I log in and it just kicks me back to the main menu.  I would like the get to the command prompt to make changes.

Did you login as root/pw?  Because if you login as admin/pw it will open up the menu again.
