Hi,
I have SME running on an old spec machine and am not sure if it supports larger hard disks. I would like to put in a 120GB hard disk but may need a PCI controller card. Would this be compatible with SME?
Thanks in advnace,
Arthur

sure ...
I still have to find an IDE controller that isn't recognized by RH.
If in doubt remember SME is RedHat-Linux-7.3 and go check out the RH HCL from contribs:

Most likely however you don't need a new card.
If your Bios doesn't recognize your HD you can always boot from a small HD that _is_ known.
Linux will take care of the big one... it does not need bios support there (if the bios hangs, try setting to "no HD" and install nevertheless).

Thanks,
At least I now know that I can slap in a 120GB drive at a later date if need be and not have to worry about BIOS limitations. Unfortunately, am buidling a new desktop system so more fileserver storage will have to wait for now
Thanks again,
Arthur
