Title: SMTP authentication problem with outgoing mails
Post by: CharlesT on February 18, 2005, 01:09:57 PM
I am using e-smith and SME since some years, configured by a friend. This time I did it myself (So I am a newbie   ) and this happens:

As I run SME 6.0.1, I am almost happy about. But there is that annoying mail problem: I scan all in-coming and out-going mails with the excellent clamAV-tool. Some providers refuse this outgoing mails, because, if I take the way out over SME I can get no authentication for SMTP. If I go out directly to the ISP's SMTP server, I can send them the related user and password informations, but no virus scanning was done. Is there a way to combine SME and SMTP authentication for outgoing mails?

Yes, I checked http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php/OutboundSMTPAuth, but the page stops at first subtitle.

Any ideas? :-(
