Hi. I have been unable to track down why my server-only SME periodically pauses serving to the LAN for maybe a second or two.
I am serving multitrack audio files from an i-bay to workstations in the LAN for music mixing. Once every hour or so, the workstation stops playback and reports "disk too slow", meaning that its buffers are empty. I press play and we can start mixing again.
I can force the fault, for example by modifying a setting in server-manager.
I have tried serving my files from machines running Windows XP and also Lycoris D/LX and neither of these OS's suffer this fault like SME.
Any thoughts how I can get SME to just sit and serve without doing any internally scheduled management tasks? Anything I can disable?
Thanks, David

why don't you check your etc/cron.hourly dir and see what's running?
