Great changelog, or did I miss something?
-
If you did so did I :-o
-
Just for fun, I updated 6.5 beta2 via yum, then changed the base source in yum.conf to point at the repo for 6.5RC1:
[root@test root]# yum update
Gathering package information from servers
Getting headers from: SME 6.5 RC1 Base
Finding updated packages
Downloading needed headers
No Packages Available for Update
No actions to take
[root@test root]#
Could it be that 6.5beta2 with all updates is 6.5RC1? A changelog would sure be helpful.
Eric

Yea, might be the case. I downloaded 6.5-RC1 as a fresh install (I mucked up my server so needed to anyway  ) Can't see anything different on the surface but maybe theres something under the hood.
-
The cd image size went down from 426 to 346 mb - there were some extra rpms on the beta versions.
-
Well - I loaded it up fresh here at home.
So far - so good.
:-D

Ian, what program do you use to check the differences? I use one called 'Beyond Compare' (Windows). I won't post its report as its the same as what you've found basically.
-
I was going to compare the packages actually installed on my server, but instead just looked in the ISOs.
From memory
ls -1trR * from the e-smith directory (after mounting each ISO)
Then I used ExamDiff (http://www.prestosoft.com/ps.asp?page=edp_examdiff) (ExamDiff is a freeware Windows tool for visual file comparison) to check which files were different. This can also export the unix diff.
At work I use BeyondCompare but at home prefer free software.
To find out the changelog information was down to rpm -q --changelog -p <whichever RPM>
For information on why the packages changed see the DevInfo mailing list archives, Shad has recently commented on the changes.
