Title: everything i do is an ERROR
Post by: msicafe on February 28, 2005, 05:49:08 AM
anything I do in Server Manager gives me an "error" but refresh shows it's there or it's changed, HOWEVER, I still have a problem with port forwarding. Both problems started at the same time ( a while ago ).

This started back at 5.6, upgraded to 6.0 didn't fix it, upgraded to 6.01-01 still didn't fix it... now using 6.5rc1 and it's still there.

any ideas ????   any help at all ????

Thanx in advance

Port forwarding is a little tricky

It only works in Gateway-Server mode as it is the firewall that does it

Server mode does NOT use the firewall - fisrt thing to check

Other than that do not compound the problems upgrading

5.6 to 6.0 to 6.5 just do a clean install and start from there

Read the forums for quirks or problems with different versions of SME use the best one to suite your needs

It has been always "server-gateway" mode.. too late for the "start fresh" too many users and email to have to start over but really wish i could. Just recently I have done the clean install of 6.5rc1, looked great then did the restore from desktop and problem came back as it has done in the past with every upgrade / clean install then restore.

I am sure the server manager is just some chmod thing but I have no idea where or what to look for :-(

I have read, searched and posted and still trying to figure out where i "screwed" up and hoping for someone to help out...
