Hello,
I have deleted a folder with files on an ibay accidentally. It is a big disaster as this folder contained a lot of work of another person.
I am trying to recover the files with some apps I found on the web, but none of these worked.
Please, can anybody give me a hint? I am sorry, but I would need a detailed how-to as I am not quite fit in Linux usage details.
Regards, b.

Sorry to tell you Bernhard but without backups you're probably unable to recover the data. Linux doesn't just rename the first charachter in the FAT to "?" to remove a file, it deletes the inode entry and recreating that is going to be way too difficult to explain (or do).

Greetings,
You can really try some data recovery tools such as Active@ undelete or Uneraser (DOS). They are really very powerful and never failed me before. I'm pretty sure that will help.

Collar, those aren't going to work as they are for Windows filesystems. I can't say for absolutely sure, as there may be tools out there I'm not familiar with, but I tend to agree with Damian that the data is gone, gone, gone.
However, a quick Google on ext3 recover deleted turns up a few options. A fast look seems to point to "Lost and Found" as the only product that might work.
