Title: be4 i screw it up - DHCP
Post by: msicafe on March 13, 2005, 08:20:08 PM
is it possible to set up the dhcp table to do

192.168.0.10 to 192.168.1.200

I think i'm running out of IP addresses to dhcp, would that above do the trick during setup ?  or is there another way of adding ip's without adding hardware..

thanx in advance for any help

I'm not sure I understand the question.. I think you are asking if you can chage the range that DHCP uses to assign an IP address. You can adjust that setting on the DHCP panel in the server manager.

try this login through putty using admin as password
choose configure your server at the point you get to input 255.255.255.0 change it to 255.255.0.0 this will allow you to use 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.250.250 on your dhcp adresses. i think that should be plenty of adress to serve out. personally i would add anther sme int the network on a different subnet then get both sme to talk to each other. This way is better for network failures has only half your network fails if it is in a critical setup ie: bussiness with ten floors one server for each floor.

Alternatively, if you don't want to open up your subnet mask so much. you can have a subnet mask of 255.255.254.0.
