Title: cron daemon messages
Post by: del on October 16, 2001, 02:50:04 AM
My e-smith server seems to be working OK, but I keep getting this message emailed to admin: "fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 20851."
Each message as a different number at the end. If I reboot e-smith it seems OK for a few days, I don't want to have to keep rebooting because this was one of the reasons I ditched MS SBS and tried e-smith. Any help is appreciated.

The reason you are getting this message is because the previous fetchmail process is still waiting to time out when the next fetchmail cycle started up. This can be due to a large e-mail download taking place or your POP server is really slow in responding.

I get this message too, especially when I check multiple POP accounts from the e-smith server because one or more of my pop accounts may be very slow in responding, if at all (problematic access to ISP's server). It's usually harmless and I just configure my e-mail client to filter out and dump those e-mails.

Thanks Kelvin, being new to e-smith (and Linux) I was just a bit worried.
