Is there a list of software addons that have been tried and approved by SME community?
I don't want to install something and find out later that it actually compromised my server security :-o or totally kill my server. :hammer:
I don't have any specific needs in mind, I just like to tinker with software, and I have "Just because I can" attitude. 8-)
And yes, I am new to Linux, Windows convert, so I don't want to blow things up :-D

If you go to the Contribs page:
http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php?ContribsPage
you'll find links to dozens of contributions that you can add to SME

This is the right attitude, because at present we have no way to "certify" additions as trouble-free.
Some additions are easy, popular and seem to work well for nearly everyone. Some work fine, but are harder to get right. Some are for older versions of SME, etc. Your Mileage May Vary.
That said, there are several addons, that will probably end up making you wonder how you ever got by without them.
Basically, avoid installing any addons on a server you're depending on, unless you're sure it'll work in your situation. It's best to try them on a test server first. You can search the site for info and then ask in the forums. Have fun with it, and Good Luck![/quote]

Thanks RonM, this is exactly what I was looking for.
Also, if anyone is interested, I have found a site: www.smeforums.com
This is a new site that claims it is focusing on SME Server addons only, not trying to compete with contribs site. And actually they have a link to contribs.org site, good, we don't need any more splintering.
