Title: sit, sea.hqx insanity...
Post by: jason wiener on January 14, 2000, 02:00:41 AM
Hi-

We are having massive problems posting sit files [stuffit] and .sea.hqx [self-expanding mac stuffit files] on the e-smith ibays.  is there a way to either fix it or configure an ftp ibay to solve this prob.

thanks-
jason.

Can you write more and explain what the problem is? What is it exactly that's not working?

Also, all i-bays can be accessed via FTP as well as via Macintosh and Windows file sharing. If you FTP to the e-smith server using the i-bay name as the username, you get read-only access to the "files" section of the i-bay. To get read/write access to the entire i-bay, FTP as the "admin" user (or as any user if the i-bay has "local" write access).

Note that there is a missing file /etc/pam.d/ftp in e-smith 3.1 containing the following five lines:

#%PAM-1.0
auth       required     /lib/security/pam_listfile.so item=user sense=deny file=/etc/ftpusers onerr=succeed
auth       required     /lib/security/pam_pwdb.so shadow nullok
account    required     /lib/security/pam_pwdb.so
session    required     /lib/security/pam_pwdb.so
