Will the final product SME7 (centos) allow an upgrade from SME 6.01-01?  Right now it seems we will have two options to upgrade with SME 6.5 also being developed.

Will the two merge or be maintained seperately?

Thanks for any in advance for any response or opinions.....

Title: SME 7 - addon Business Applications
Post by: infinix on March 29, 2005, 08:07:18 AM
Hi Team,

I've been juggling SME7a3 around for a few weeks now. I'm cool with the idea of the CentOS Base(RH). I must say the kernel performs better than SME6.5RC1, no offence  ;-). SME Server has smoothened a whole lot of configuration issues + saved me hours (wrt MDK/CentOS clean installs) previously, such as SambaPDC/LDAP/MySQL integration to start with.

I've managed to get the following up and running:-
- Mambo CMS
- phpGroupWare (pls advice/help re: LDAP integration. SME seems to use CYPT and phpGW has DES and MDE)
- WebERP
- KnowledgeTree
- Working on >>
CRM, HRM, Payroll
LAN Raid 1 / Cluster with Load Balancing (tips/suggestions welcome)

The idea behind this is to bundle integrated "Business" applications one could deploy in the least possible time. Think strategy! and the players >> M$ and N0ve11  :-x

Has anyone worked on a similar configuration. What would you guys regard as best rated with regards to: CMS, DMS, ERP, CRM, Payroll taking into consideration that you do not want to duplicate DB/Web Server (Apache/MySQL on PHP in this case) + want to simplify/centralize authentication/addressing/contacts.  :-o

To add-on to Skydivers request: Are the RPM's/ packages goind to be based on the latest CentOS base on SME7?

Cheers.
