Title: smtp-server outside
Post by: Haegar on March 24, 2005, 04:03:47 PM
Hi,
I hope someone can help me. I´m often using my sme-servers webmail. Because I don´t have a static ip-adress some receiving servers don´t like my mails. I know, it´s possible to set another smtp server but what I don´t know how can I give my username and password to the external smtp server. I hope someone can help me.

Bye

Gerd

Hi Gerd,

it is not possible with SME 6.01 (default config) in a legal way (qmail has to be patched and AFAIK patched binaries of qmail are not allowed to be distributed (?))

For SME 6.5 there exists a proxy SMTP server, which can be configured to work as SMTP Auth gateway towards the ISP. There have been e-mail contribs, which claim to enable this on a SME 6.01, too, but I did not manage that.
