Installed on an emachines T1840, Celeron processor, 384 megs DDR RAM, Intel 845GL chipset.

Got a kernel panic after reboot; now the Caps Lock & Scroll Lock look to be blinking Morse code at me! If it'd be helpful I'll try to record it as dots & dashes. Anything else useful, crash-info-wise, I can recover from the machine?
I should note that this machine is a bit suspect; next reboot I'll do a RAM check and a bit of CPU stresstesting, but I've successfully installed SuSE 9.2 and Mepis 3.3 on it.

just installed alpha4 on a pretty average box, no such problems. Hope it helps... Rgds. chris.

Looks as though the RAM in this box is no better than it absolutely has to be ... I tried using the most conservative memory settings possible and SME finished booting and seems to be running OK. The same memory settings ran MEPIS and Xandros just fine, but I reckon CentOS stresses the memory more.
