Title: Printing from XP
Post by: FrancisT on March 25, 2005, 05:13:29 AM
Hi,
Our SeniorNet has 8 PCs using an e-smith 6.0beta3 to provide Internet and print sharing (a canon BJ 6200, connected to the e-smith).
The problem is that as we upgrade from Win98 to XP, the XP machines cannot print.  I can add a printer, take a network printer, then connect to this printer which allows me to browse to the printer on the e-smith.  It appears to install ok, but in printers it reports: "Access denied.  Unable to connect"
Passwords on the e-smith and the local machine are the same.
I would be grateful for any help...
Title: Upgrade & contrib will take care of that

First, go ahead & bring that beta version up to the production 6.01-01; then search for & install the "Advanced Workgroup" contrib.  The server manager panel installed by that software will have a place where you can allow "guest printing" that will solve your problem.
