Title: Trouble mounting a new SCSI drive in an existing SME v5.5 se
Post by: justin on March 25, 2005, 01:17:06 PM
First of all I have been to the "How to add an extra Hard Disk to a SME Server" link and it has not worked in my situation. I have sucessfully formated the drive and with the DF command is showing as mounted to /mnt/bigdisk.

The problem I am having is with mounting the drive to be seen in network neighbourhood. Do I create the information bay called extra to create the folder on /home/e-smith/files/ibays/extra. Then create a directory on /mnt/bigdisk/ibays/extra then create the symlink from /mnt/bigdisk/ibays/extra to /home/e-smith/files/ibays/extra or vise versa, or do I just mount the new drive to home/e-smith/files/ibays/extra and forget the symlink and edit the fstab to mount at startup?. Please let me know as I am so confused between the two posts of "How to add an extra Hard Disk to a SME Server" and "I need to Add a 2nd. SCSI Cheetah HDD to my SME v.6.

One says not to mount to the /home and the other says to do it.
