Title: Compaq DeskPro DMA problems
Post by: Rigger on March 29, 2005, 09:09:27 AM
After looking over a number of general linux FAQ I have come discovered that my problems installing SME (both 6.01-1 or 6.5) is failing due the the HD DMA being turned on. How can I turn the DMA off prior to the HD format? WIll I need to build a custom iso for this? Any help would be great. The system is a Compaq Deskpro 5166/MMX.

Well I was finally able to get SME 6.5 to install on my Compaq DeskPro 2000 5166/MMX. I do not know why it worked this way but it did. I put the cdrom as the slave on the same cable with the harddrive and the install went prefectly. Anyone out there can enlighten me on why this would work?
