I am running a recent clean install of 6.01-1 with:
server only mode (behind a Smoothwall firewall)
multi-drop e-mail retrieval mode
ozehosting (Australia) external mail server
bigpond ISP (ADSL)
I IMAP to the e-smith box from the local network, and the e-smith box downloads mail from ozehosting (POP).
This system has worked flawlessly for 12 months until last week. I can now no longer receive or send e-mails, with the following message from the mail log file:
CNAME_lookup_failed_temporarily._(#4.4.3)
I can retrieve and send mail by using a browser to ozehosting webmail site.
I have no problems pinging my external mail server, so dns generlly seems ok.
A search of the contribs forums suggested updating tinydns (I assume this refers to e-smith-tinydns).
I did this (to e-smith-tinydns-0.5.0-07), but this made no difference.
I suspect I need to apply some other updates.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Hi zzrpat,
It sounds like that maybe ozehosting has blocked port tcp 25 due to spam being sent though them.
Just an idea, best to ring them and see

Hi, I will check tomorrow am but this is unlikely as the office next door has an identical arrangement (e-smith 6.01 server / ozehosting external mail server) with no problems (well not yet, anyway).
Thanks for your thoughts.
