Title: Webmin setup
Post by: russgalley on April 11, 2005, 03:38:27 PM
Hi, I'm new to the forums but thought I might be able to help.
I have just installed Webmin on SME Server 6. The best way to install Webmin is using the 'tar.gz' type from the Webmin download page instead of the RPM package. This worked fine for me, simply the follow the instructions further down the 'Downloading and Installing page' on the Webmin site and install it from a shell prompt.

Hope this helps

Sorry, should also add that when it asks you for an OS type you should choose Redhat, not sure which version but I think SME 6 is based on Redhat 7? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

webmin is (mostly) incompatible with SME server. It's method of operation is completely contrary to the way the server manager works.
