I'm testing SME 6.5RC1
I'm tying to connect a USB disk:
37 Go
maybe USB 1
probably NTFS (I want to reformat it in F32 or ext3)
I read this How-To:
http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php/How%20to%20connect%20a%20USB%20Hard%20Disk%20to%20SME%206.0.1-01
I'm on point 1: "cdrecord --scanbus"
I see only the CD/DVD drive
The USB disk does not appear.
When i type "dmesg", I get this:
---
hub.c: new USB device 00:1d.3-1, assigned address 2
usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x4ce/0x2) is not claimed by any active driver.

When I type "fdisk -l", I get only my RAID partitions.
Any idea ?
Thanks for your help.

When I type "fdisk -l", I get only my RAID partitions.
Try "fdisk -l /dev/sda".
-
"fdisk -l /dev/sda"
returns nothing.
:-?

After a few more tests, I realized that my drive was dammaged !
I did more tests with a 128 Mo USB1 flash disk and a 200 Go USB2 HD.
It worked fine.
They were mapped on sda1 or sdb1.
Thanks for your help.
