Title: System Monitor Stopped
Post by: Smitro on April 20, 2005, 12:48:16 AM
Hi, My system monitor stopped after I restarted my server last time. it's been running fine for over 20 days, in that 20 days I installed the system monitor, but when I restarted the computer the monitor didn't start. So I can go in and see the graphs but nothing it plotted on them. My box is SME 6.5RC1

I got it from here:
http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php/sysmon

Is it possible for me to just restart the service and then I'll take it from there.

>>echo "Usage: $0 {start|stop|status|restart}"
...so try a "sysmon status" first

...in case it doesn't run maybe the usual & oldfashioned
#   /sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade
#   /sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot
will activate it ((even) on 6.5)

Thanks, the first command didn't work, so I used the second to reboot. I would have preferred not to, but I couldn't find any alternative.

Maybe that's something that maybe could be added into future developments, being able to restart any service thought a web panel. I'm use to using freesco, where that's the main thing the web admin is for. (that was positive criticism). I love SME.

Smitro,

1st line in my reply (>>) was a copy and paste right out of the sysmon script.
(/etc/rc.d/init.d/sysmon - I think &no access right now)

As you can see sysmon does indeed support a live start/stop.

AFAIK sysmon itself is NO LONGER SUPPORTED by Shad in 6.5 (at least he has removed the CONTRIB from it's previous site) (?).
-Please ask shad or wellsi about this (as I am not using 6.5 and my sysmon versions are are heavily patched).

Regards
Reinhold
