Title: Multiple email domain problem
Post by: dayhat on April 24, 2005, 02:48:23 AM: I have multiple domains on my SME 6.0.01 but i can not add user@domain1 and user@domain2. Also in the webmail when logon as user the default email is user@primarydomain.

Is there any way i can solve this problem? (Where i can add user@domain1 and user@domain2.)

Is the new versions of the sme 6.5 and sme70 will have this functionality?

I believe this is very important functionality if we claim that the SME server supports multiple domains.

I very much doubt it. To solve it, you'd need a server user population identified by all protocols as "user@domain", not just "user". By "all protocols" I mean http, ftp, samba, netatalk, imap, popd, pptp, ssh, telnet.

File ownership is by "user". There's no way to specify file ownership by "user@domain". That's why the basic item of identification is "user". Once a user exists, it's trivial to have that user have an email address in each virtual domain.

SME server is a multi-protocol workgroup server - it's not just a (virtual domain) email server.

to limit email users to certain domains

For the record, this support has been added to 7.0. You need to create the users and domains, but then you can remap the exceptions via the pseudonyms panel (e.g. to send support@domain1 somewhere and support@domain2 somewhere else).
