Title: can't telnet into my sme v5 box
Post by: Jerry Karn on October 24, 2001, 05:45:02 PM
Hello all,
This is a simple one, I think.  I'm hoping this post will speed up a solution.  Here goes:

I went into the html server-manager.

selected remote access

went to the bottom and changed telnet access from none to private.
....can't telnet in from my lan.  not as root, admin, or a user.

so I changed access to public.
   ....nothing.  nada.

Why not?  Is the screen just for looks?  :-)

I would greatly help any help anyone can provide!

On the pragmatic side, please don't tell me how insecure telnet is.  I'm tired of hearing people whose companies make underpants tell me how we all need fort-knox 128-bit encrypted security on everything.  :-)
