Title: SME on PE2850 - no HD
Post by: atelier111 on May 03, 2005, 05:21:17 AM
Hi everybody,
I've just received my new dell power edge 2850 and I've tried to have a raid 1 config using the perc4e/di card. But the installs (SME 6.01 and 6.5) can't see any drive!
When the raid level is disabled, the 2 scsi drives are seen ... but the install can't find any driver for the nic (gigabit broadcom I guess !).
My PE2850 has no floppy drive.
How can I install the driver without it ? Using a usb memory card ?
I had the same prb trying to install winXP, even worst, the scsi card is not recognized  :-D  !
any ideas ?
 :-?

Just try SME 7.0

There is no 7.0 - only 7.0alpha. It's certainly not stable, and certainly not bug free.

OK, I know that 7.0 is beta release and not suitable for production server. Should I install FC3 ?
Thanks.

What about CentOS or White Box Linux?

You're using new hardware with dated software. You need the SCSI card drivers. Gigabit drivers aren't automatically in the ISO.

-power down
-attach CD drive
-mount the CD with the drivers
-install drivers
-power down & disconnect the CD
