Title: Unmetered ISP in the UK
Post by: Andy Finney on October 25, 2001, 12:37:27 AM
Hi all,

Can anybody recommend a good e-smith compatible ISP that offers unmetered internet access in the UK at a flat rate (preferably under 15 quid a month) ?

I have tried both BT Internet Anytime and Freeserve Anytime, but can get neither working with e-smith.

(For reference, I get "LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests" messages when connecting).

So I am going to approach this the other way - has anybody in the UK got any ideas on suitable ISP's ??

Thanks,

Andy.

Do a search in the forums on 'ISDN'. It has been discussed many times, including British ISP's.

best thing I can think is NTL £25 a month so might be a little more than what you wanted to pay but a lot faster and always on.

Cheers Jim,

Checked the NTL website and it seems as though cable is not available in my area, and they have no plans to do so for the time being.

Tried searching the forum, but can't find any recommendations of any unmetered flat-rate British ISPs.

Surely somebody out there has got dial-up unmetered access in the UK working with e-smith ????

I'm on the verge of throwing in the towel....

Andy.

Hi Andy,

I've used e-smith for a few years now, and have had no problems with any ISP in the UK (except for AOL!!).

Our current web connection is through BT Connect, (www.btconnect.com)
We have used BT Anytime several times and have had no problems.

What are your problems with BT Anytime???
What connection type are you using?? (Eg, Modem, ISDN, ADSL???)

We to are based in the UK, if you have any problems, give us a ring, (I'll email you the phone number in a moment.)

Kind Regards,
Peter.
