It's all a bit worrying. My previous linux installations have hassled me with admin email.
I've set Forwarding address for administrative notices to my local user account, and can receive other local and internet email, but no admin notices. Doesn't the cron tell me how it's getting on every so often?

It's funny you should mention this because I got my first email from Mr. CRON the other day. Never really had any mails to admin unless I'm running backups or the like. Maybe it's the "no news is good news" way of thinking?
I'd be interested to see how other users are finding their admin mailboxes.
