Good night to everyone,
I want to filter all incoming emails for viruses and spam before they hit my desktops. Is it possible to configure it for this task ?
Note that my SME is not used as a POP email server but only as an SMTP-Proxy.
regards,
Luis

Yes, it is 8-)
For the virusscanner you should take a look here:
http://sme.swerts-knudsen.com/index.html?frame=http://sme.swerts-knudsen.com/howtos/howto_22.htm
Integrated in the server-manager and updated every night.
For the spam filter:
I've used (tested) 2 different spamfilters, ASSP and SpamAssasin, both works fine.
ASSP: http://assp.sourceforge.net/
ASSP gives more control in the settings but is harder to configure and have it's own webinterface, on the other hand, when using a smtp proxy the mail will be deleted on the ASSP server.
SpamAssasin: http://sme.swerts-knudsen.com/howtos/howto_29.htm
SpamAssasin is easier and completly integrated in the SME server-manager (nice webinterface) filters also the spam but only delete the mail when the user is local, when the user is not local the mail will send through and get a tag [SPAM!]
There's much more to tell and i suggest that you visit the websites for more information, i hope this is the info you need :-D

Ronald
