Title: upgrading server
Post by: Bob on October 29, 2001, 09:18:15 PM
I am running E-Smith 4.01 and would like to upgrade to Server 5.  Can I just install Server 5 and skip the other upgrades or do I need to incremently upgrade?

Also, will I lose all of my configuration and all of my other files stored on the server.

Bob,

It looks like you can just run the SME V5 install and upgrade.

Check this out:
http://www.e-smith.org/docs/manual/5.0/upgrading.html

Based on what I have seen from other posts, the upgrade will preserve your configuration and user files, etc.

You may have to double check about specific customizations you have done outside the scope of server basics, ie. custom ibay configs.

As always, you should make sure to BACKUP prior to the upgrade.

Good luck!

Regards,
Patrick
