Does anyone know if there is a way to have only one NIC and use it for an internet connection without acting as a gateway? I would like a box to have dedicated internet access but without being a gateway on the LAN side.
I haven't tried buy I imagine if I set the machine as a gatway it will allow me to use the same NIC for both but then it will still masq etc...
Thanks!

I do this "sort of" with my box in server only mode, as SME runs a proxy server all web activity goes through my SME server.
Set your client machines to use the SME box as the gateway and from my experience it should work fine.

Heh I think you are talking about the opposite scenario.
I want this SME box to have it's own dedicated (it will be a webserver) internet connection (using PPPoe) but not act as a gateway for clients as I have a seperate box already doing this...

It won't act as a gateway for clients if none of the clients try to use it as a gateway. They're already using the separate box, right?

Then really aren't you just running it as a server. When in this mode (like mine is) it still works as a webserver.
If you don't want to use the SME box as a gateway simply point your clients to your router and they will ignore the SME for internet access. That is what server mode is.

Thanks guys. I just had to make sure to disable DHCPD.
