Title: Torrents and ports
Post by: MajikNWA on June 09, 2005, 12:12:23 PM
Blast it. I know my onions (or so i thought) - have set up the frankly briliant SM server, opened the ports that I thought needed opening - set up the proxy address inside BitComet - and...nothing.

If I set it to Socks, it can't connect to the proxy. if I set it to HTTP, I get a 403 error.

Can someone treat me like an idot and walk me through it please?

My setup is:

Local network to SME green side, SME red side to D-Link router, router to ADSL line.

Thanks,

Majik

Hello MajikNWA,

At first welkom here,

Your problem you wrote that you have open the ports but did you have also foreward them to the richt IP adress in you local network

First jou must open the ports on your router and forward them to you sme box (red adress)

Then you must open/forward the ports to you torrent station.

A hint of my side draw it simpel on a pease off paper.

Code: [Select]

 Internet
    |
Dlink router (open the ports and forward to sme)
    |
    |    (red ip adress)
 SME box
    |    (green ip adress not nessary in your case)
    |
 Switch/hub
    |
    |
 Workstation (local Ip adress)

You must folowing the flow off the drawing and made the richt setting's on the port opening's an port forwarder's

Goodluck and regards

John
