Title: Help, I am behind a router and can't find the internet
Post by: whalley on June 11, 2005, 07:35:48 PM
I have a server only SME server set up for my home.  I would like to be able to get it through my MR814 wired, and wireless router.  I am unsure as to how to accomplish this.

I have set up the server this way
Router IP address 192.168.0.1 (Gateway)
Server address 192.168.0.54

I can access the server from other computers on the network, but the router is not showing it in the "attached devices" view in it's setup.

Thanks in advance

Are you trying to access the internet from the server or you trying to access the server from the internet?

Also, if you set a static IP on the server and have DHCP enabled on the router.....

1-Make sure you set the IP on the server outside the DHCP range on the router.
2-The server may not show up on the router's "attached device list" unless it supplies the IP to the server dynamically.

Also make sure you enter the IP of your router as the gateway for the server to use. Made this mistake just earlier today. I was going through the configuration too fast and misread the question.
