The SATA drive will cause you problems...
6.0.1 Does NOT have SATA support
6.5rc1 Has some SATA support.
7.0 Should have full SATA support. This is still in alpha and is only for testing and has multiple bugs.

What about the AMD64? I don't see any iso images for x86_64 like most other s/w. Is it available?
Max.

Sorry, I did not see the 64bit spec, thanks for pointing it out. Current versions don't come in a 64bit flavor.
I don't know if the dev team has plans for a 64bit version of 7x, just have to wait and see.

Sure, but what about it running on AMD64? Can it run in 32-bit mode on an AMD64 chip?
Max.

Yes, the AMD64 will work in 32 bit mode. I'm getting one for my desktop tomorrow, but I'm not going to bother putting one in my SME server just yet.

Good Evening,
Well, it looks like the school where I do contract work at wasted around $8,000 for the moment since there is no SME support for SATA ready for a production server. Is there a definite wrapup date for 6.5RC1?
Wish it was ready in the next week or so, sigh, only in my dreams. http://www.intel.com/design/servers/s875wp1-e/ << motherboard spec's.

You can use the SATA drive(s) in 6.5RC1 only in compatibility mode (PATA I think it's called).
You will have some problems upgrading from that to sme 7.0 (SATA) when it is released (some/many months away as yet).
Alternatively you don't need to trash the $8000 server, just put IDE drive(s) in it and upgrade them to SATA later when fully supported.
