Has anyone installed and is using this successfully

I am concidering asterisk very seriously. Please advise in detail about this project

Type Asterisk into the Search Site box at top right of screen and you will find quite a few forum posts results from people using/intstalling Asterisk.
Look at Forums and make sure you click on Show all results.

teviot,
considering that you can't use this particular project together with SME's features (security risks) I recommend you look at asterisk@home. I myself use it behind my SME.
