Hey yall,
I happened across this announcement during my daily "news-commute":
http://www.mandriva.com/company/press/pr?n=/pr/corporate/2556
Lycoris was acquired by Mandriva Linux.
Could have made for a bumpy ride if we were still a part of Lycoris. Maybe(?)!
Just sending it along for kicks.

How did it finish the story of Lycoris buying SME?
How will the new operation affect SME?
-
SME Server (Contribs.org) is a stand alone project, guided by Ruffdogs.
Lycoris declined development responsibility amongst other things at that time. Due to the lack of this, Lycoris withdraw from their promise and contribs.org was on tis own again.
Looking at the communty efforts (Thanks Ron, Garret) a solid guidance is on its way. There are NO other affiliations other then mention above. Period.

How did it finish the story of Lycoris buying SME?
Lycoris was never buying "SME". The software which is distinctive to SME server (i.e. not used by RedHat and other distributions) is (mostly) owned by Mitel Networks, which still develops the software and sells it to customers. Mitel also publishes the software under the GPL, allowing you to use it, and others to develop it and redistribute it, as long as they comply with the license conditions.
Lycoris "acquired" management responsibility for this community website (contribs.org), but later walked away from that undertaking. They also announced plans to market a product based on SME server software, but later reversed that too.
