Title: gigabit network cards in 6.0.1
Post by: brianr on June 16, 2005, 07:20:51 AM
Can someone give me some pointers to gigabit cards which work with 6.0.1?

E.g. does the Dlink 550T work, or perhaps the 3Com PCI Server card?

I have very good luck with anything realtek 8169 based.  I am not sure of any others.  I have been buying some by connect gear for about $30.

I just installed a D-Link DGE-550T (Rev-A2) yesterday in a new SME 6.01 server, which is recognized.

I cannot see the chipset used, because of a passive cooler.

But this card used to abend (=abort) a NetWare server, so I have to stress test the card in the linux environment.

That is good news, perhaps you can let me know if it gives problems?

.. of course everyone remembers Darrell May built the drivers for the Intel Gig cards quite a while ago (my d/l is date Jan '04); these have worked great for me over the last year.

Thanks Darrell
