Over the past few days, I have noticed that more and more often, it take a few minutes to access this site. Am I having a bad dream? I check other sites as Contribs load, and all appears OK on my end. Has anyone else experienced long delay?

Saturday and Sunday were pretty slow. About 45 to 60 seconds to load the main page.
But today it seems to be back to normal. Maybe too much traffic at that particular host.

Well, it has just taken over 6 minutes to post this reply from Sydney. javascript:emoticon(':-x') .

I'm guessing the answer, but I think it's right.
For some months contribs.org has not been synchronised to ibiblio (& other ?) mirror sites.
I did raise this with people and again with Garret from Ruffdogs recently.
I see just now that there is some partial syncing at ibiblio, but not everything is there as yet.
So I assume there is a BIG file transfer of many Gb's (?) happening between contribs.org and ibiblio mirror(s), thus clogging contribs.org bandwidth.
Patience grasshopper.

Hi folks,
Yes, please be patient with us as a number of institutions are starting up the mirroring efforts again. It seems we are getting hammered from all sides.

Thank you for clarification Garret (and Ray), trusting it was not construed as negative criticism... The grass is OK. The site being "hammered" from all sides is a clear indication of the renewed interest generated over the past few months under Ruffdogs stewardship. Perhaps a short note flagging the challenge could be posted somewhwere, as was the case for ftp access a while back?

Thank you, indeed a good idea. I will try to get something up by tomorrow.
