Title: IS there a backup size limitation using Flexbackup?
Post by: mapangojoe on June 28, 2005, 01:06:22 AM
Hello all.  Is there a backup/restore size limitation using Flexbackup?   I seem to remember some issue with restores failing over a given size.

Please enlighten me!!!!!!

If backing up to desktop, yes.  The single backup file can not be over 4 GB.

sorry for my ignorance, - but does Flexbackup indicate "using a tape streamer" ? Does that still have limitations as the "backup to desktop" have the 2 Gb. limitation when restoring ?

I've found a Dat streamer I'm thinking of putting in my box, - and was just wondering if that still have limitations like the backup to desktop. My current 'full' backup takes up aprox. 3 Gb. which is why I'm looking for something else :-)
I'm aware of backup2ws but don't currently have a workstation on that part of my network.

Flexbackup is not used for backup to desktop. There is no 4GB limit with flexbackup (tape backup).

The 4GB limit with backup to desktop is somewhere in the tar, gzip, apache, mod_proxy, browser pipeline.

Thanx. I'll throw my DAT Streamer inside the box and see what happens :-)

Apparently theres no option to 'verify' a tape backup in the server-manager panel... Does it mail out  a logfile or similar ?
