Hi please can anyone help I have a fresh 6.01-01 install and have installed the spamassasin spam filter following the "how to install spamfilter" from Swerts-Knudsen.dk's website.
Everything appeared to work fine after activating the filter in the server manager except I can no longer send email via webmail. I get sme "unable to connect to smtp server localhost:25".
If I deactivate the spam filter from the server manager then webmail works again. Please can someone tell me how to fix this issue?

Anyone worked this out yet, I have a server that can't send email at all even if spammassasin is stoped from the server manager mail will not work, even webmail fails to work, any ideas?

It sounds like it is probably one of the RBL lists, that is usually the cause of not being able to send mail. I would sugest removing them all and then adding them back one at a time until you find the culprit.

You can always try a "service spamassassin restart" if the RBLs aren't your issue as well.

Have tried as you suggested, when running the command I get a failed message for stopping the service, and then an ok message for restarting, still can't get mail to work get 'There was an error sending your message: unable to connect to smtp server localhost:25' messgae instead, it won't recieve mail either. I have removed the blacklists also to no avail, any other ideas? The install was working fine, running the swerts-knudsen install script and since one of the recent auto updates has failed to work, I had some other servers that also had mail die when this happened and have managed to get them going but can't seem to get this one working and I can't figure out why as the install and config is the same as the others that are working fine. If anyone has any ideas on how to get it going it would be appreciated.

After much head scratching and not being able to work this out I decided to reboot and it's all working again, I haven't restarted Spamassassin yet though, I thought I would just monitor things as they are for the moment. I'm guessing at this stage that a post-upgrade process that should have run after either the recent clamav or spamassassin updates that did not install correctly has not run as it should have when the updates were installed manually. I'll post back if it falls over again, but at this stage it looks ok.

A relief I can tell you, my 76 year old father has been anxious waiting for his email to get sorted :-D I guess you don't normally need to think about reboots with these things, more of a windows thing, I guess had I have thought of it at the time I would have done the post-upgrade/reboot procedure. Glad the head scratching has stopped for now though!
