Title: SME server as a proxy?
Post by: meneer on June 28, 2005, 07:44:52 PM
I just installed a wireless router/switch and connected sme server to the switch. It used to be the router/gateway for my lan.
Now I want to use my sme server as a squidguard proxy for the pc's on my lan.

Problem: sme server can't connect to the internet. When I configure the browser to use port 3128 on the sme server ip address, nothing happens.

How can I configure sme server to connect through the router, or via another default gateway?

I'm not sure I understand what you want to do, but what I did with my wireless router is turn off the dhcp server setting on it ( this makes it a wireless switch only), that way I can still control what PCs using the WiFi can access also.

Thanks Mike,

I did figure it out already. I had some hard time cinfiguring the server to use the router address as the gatway to the internet. Switched IP addresses a lot, but I finally got there.
Squid running smoothly again :)
