When one forum has almosr 300 pages of topics it is wise to make narrowed focused forums and split discussions for easier usage and maintenance.

As I have said in many places, nobody should still be using 5.X - those old releases have not been supported by anyone for years, and have known, exploitable security holes. 6.0 was released in December 2003 - upgrade.

Sure. And if there were a 5.X forum, there could be a large prominent sticky message telling people just that!
I agree with the OP. It's long overdue that the forum organisation was improved.
