Hi,
I have just done my first howto ever for installing Darwin Streaming Server (Open Source Quicktime Server) and put the link in for approval, any critique (if needed) would be appreciated ...

Good work Tom! I was curious and installed the 5.5 version on SME7a21 - an error indicated that the rpm 'compat-libstdc++-33' from the Centos mirror should be installed beforehand. After I installed that it installed without error.
In 5.5 at least the program file is /usr/sbin/DarwinStreamingServer - you can type 'DarwinStreamingServer -help' at the command prompt for info. If that is on your install you can probably start it with that instead of the perl script.
I haven't tried serving up any movies yet, I'll try that out later.
And I looked around, there don't seem to be any Fedora/Redhat rpms for this yet. I found one for Mandrake though.

Yeah the compat-stdlib was what I found I required. Plus you are right, I had forgotten that the server can run without this lib, it is just the admin server that has this problem!
I will perhaps get an rpm done in the next few days when I get on top of work.
Will do an edit in the next few days...
