Title: Incoming Email broken by Swerts-Knudsen Spamassassin - HELP!
Post by: pcdoc on July 14, 2005, 04:25:20 AM
after running pagefault's spamassassin successfully for a year or so, we changed over to swerts-knudsens spamassassin contrib. All incoming and outgoing email was being copied and forwarded to one email account for accounting and archiving purposes.

After changing to swerts-knudsens SA and a restart, errors are appearing in maillog every 30 minutes

: MDA returned nonzero status 17152
: Unknown user "XXXXX.XXXXX"

and

:Insufficient privileges to deliver to "admin"
: MDA returned nonzero status 19712

I have looked throught the forums, as well as googled.

when i use lat-procmail -c "*|enabled|no|some|normal"
it returns
>An error occurred while updating account 'alexis'.
alexis is the first use in the list.

Any help is desperately needed.

thanks

The only thing I can think of trying is to backup the server and restore it after reloading SME.  I would try this on another box first to make sure that it will work.

Sorry, not much help.

thanks skavenger, but i eventually found the offending problem.

It was in the smtpfront rpm from Charley Bradly. The smtpfront executable in /var/services didnt have the attributes set correctly for execution, so after a quick chmod 766, all was well.

It took about 6 hours to find the sucker, that was the major problem. All documented now so we wont see that problem surface again.

Incidentally, I did have the latest rpm from Charley.

Ah well, we lives, we learns.
