I got sick of flex backup's slow speed to tape and went and installed arkiea. While it is faster, I would just rather get back to where my box backs itself up at night automatically.
I am daily getting:
Can't exec "/etc/e-smith/events/actions/tape-backup-arkeia": No such file or directory at /sbin/e-smith/do_backup line 52.
Backup terminated: backup failed - status: -1
In my do_backup cron reports.
Having sowed my wild backup oats, I am ready to come home. Can someone help me get back to flex? OR fix so that arkiea automagically backs up every night?
Thanks in advance.

Ok, seems like I may be stuck? Will backing up, reinstalling, then restoring my backup just bring back the same problem?

Try:
/sbin/e-smith/config backup Program flexbackup
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event conf-backup

I tried what you said, and the do_backup script returned.
Backup terminated: pre-backup failed - status: 256

You'll need to look in /var/log/messages to determine what the problem is there.

Ok, I found that after the reboot, the module for my SCSI card hadnt been loaded, a modprobe fixed that. Now I get this error again.
Can't exec "/etc/e-smith/events/actions/tape-backup-arkeia": No such file or directory at /sbin/e-smith/do_backup line 52.
Backup terminated: backup failed - status: -1
I dont want arkeia, I want to return to flex :(

It's easy enough to configure Arkeia to do a scheduled backup using the Java GUI they have available for download. That doesn't get you back to flexbackup, of course, but it would get you a regular backup. You can also configure it (as I have) to do a full backup weekly and a differential or incremental backup every other day, which saves quite a bit of time and tape space. Now I just need to find out what directories to restore to match the factory restore scheme...

My mistake. My advice should have been:
/sbin/e-smith/config setprop backup Program flexbackup
/sbin/e-smith-signal-event conf-backup
