Title: SpamAssassin was not updated

I get this message Every night from my SME box and it appears to grow by 10 files each night. Does anyone know what is going wrong? Do I need to update my repository locations or something?

SME server does not include SpamAssassin. You must have a contrib package installed. You should address your query specifically to the author of the particular SA contrib you are using.

This error message comes from the e-smith-USA package that ensures you are up-to-date with the latest spamassassin package. Which setting to you have in the spam filter panel in server-manager for USA?

Also please send the content of /home/e-smith/altiplano as this contains control data for USA.

The database (altiplano) file is correct and shouldn't want to upgrade anything else.

Which versions are actually installed of e-smith-USA and the 3 SA files?

I actually got frustrated and just uninstalled and try to reinstall. Now the reinstall does not work. I am running your spamfilter_install.sh and I get the following output.

error: failed dependencies:
spamassassin is needed by e-smith-USA-0.4.1-1
error: failed dependencies:
spamassassin >= 3 is needed by sme-spamfilter-1.2.0-1
e-smith-USA >= 0.3 is needed by sme-spamfilter-1.2.0-1

Any ideas on fixing this? Sorry...

I found spamassassin on your downloads page and was able to get the script to run, but now I get..

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, admin and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

When I try to configure in SME under Spam Filter.

rpm -qa | grep e-smith-USA shows only
"e-smith-USA-0.4.1-1"

rpm - qa | grep shows :
"spamassassin-tools-3.0.4-1
spamassassin-3.0.4-1"

rpm -qa | grep perl-Mail*.* shows
"perl-Mail-RFC822-Address-0.3-1
perl-Mail-SpamAssassin-3.0.4-1"

This is all perfect. Does the number in "..seems that 40 file(s).." increase every day?

Maybe Michiel is not deleting all the downloaded files correctly somehow.

I am having the same problem. - And the number DOES increase every day.

Last night:-

It seems that 110 file(s) failed to download, upgrade will be attempted
again tomorrow automatically.

Try to see what is in the temp dir used by USA (tmp/USA and /tmp/SA).

I all cases you should be ok deleting all files in both directories.

I've noticed also that sometimes I've got something like this:

/etc/cron.daily/run_usa:

/usr/sbin/USA: [: too many arguments

I have several servers in the same situation :-)

and the download log is as above.
for some reason the extraction of files needed to be downloaded is including the empty fields [ ] which is causing the error messages. and subsequant failure

To remove the problem just delete all content of the /tmp/SA directory.

I also had similar trouble with the AV package, so i deleted the /tmp/UCA directory as well.

Just back from holiday and wading through my e-mails. Where would I be without SA ;-) ?

Could anyone who (still) experiences this problem please do the following:
- Run /sbin/e-smith/db altiplano setprop USA logging verbose
- Wait 24 hours and then mail me the log file /var/log/USA.log (to michiel_at_altiplano_dot_be)
- Also mail me a copy of /home/e-smith/altiplano
- and the filenames in /tmp/SA (just do ls -l /tmp/SA | mail -s "Your Name" michiel_at_altiplano_dot_be)

This should help me to find the problem.

The problem has been fixed in version 0.4.2. As soon as Jesper has found the time to put it on his server you will get it automatically.

However, to get it installed automatically you need to delete first the /tmp/USA directory.

Alternatively you can install the update manually with rpm -Uvh http://www.altiplano.be/downloads/USA/
