Title: Virtual domain email aliases won't forward to groups
Post by: jtdohert on July 29, 2005, 09:32:00 PM
I followed the how to at http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/rmitchell/smeserver/howto/virtual%20domain%20email%20aliases%20HOWTO%20for%20sme%20server.htm for virtual domains.  Everything was working great until i received the latest request from my users.

They want an email address to go to several different users.  If a group is set up, and not defined in the 90aliases file, that works.  But here is the issue...
I have myemail@domain1.com and myemail@domain2.com going to different users.  Entering myemail@domain1.com:group1 in 90aliases will not forward email to the group.  I can't set up myemail as a group because it goes to different sets of users based on the domain name used.

Anyone have any ideas?  I would have though myemail@domain1.com:group1 would work, but maybe the "group distribution" processing occurs before this list is used.

Try setting it up like this

alias1 >> user1 >> group1

I'm not exactly sure what you mean.  In 90aliases joe@abc.com:group1 doesn't work, only joe@abc.com:user1 works.

In the server manager User panel, forward user1 to group1 and it will all work as required.
