No - take a look at the Devtools script.

Here (http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php/devtools-7.0)

If you grab gcc and do a
Code: [Select]
rpm -ivh *.rpm It will bitch and complain - and then tell you what else you will need to grab.

hmm...that would mean i need to be connected to the internet...having trouble doing that at the moment!  I'll open a new forum post to try to establish troubleshooting methods, and revisit getting gcc i think!

What's the point in asking for help here if you don't listen to the advice you get?  Stephen (snoble) gave you a solution.

SME 7 is an alpha version, and many things are broken or change with each version.  The only reason to use it is if you are going to test and report problems to the developers.  Consider using SME 6.0.1 for now if that is not what you're interested in doing.

Thanks for your somewhat offensive reply greg.  I need to get the thing connected to the internet in order to download gcc, so I'm tackling that at the moment with my ISP (one sme server already connected - this one won't, so something odd going on).
I don't make the effort to write on here asking questions and then not listen, so I don't appreciate the inference you were making.
I am running v7 due to having to build a proxy in a school setting using one of their old servers which has SATA drives.  I have 4 weeks to test before putting it live - which will test v7 very adequately for you.  I have a 6.5 server also built to act as backup if there are any critical errors.
Do you have an issue with that Greg?
