Hi there,
I am running a peer-to-peer network of 4 win98 PCs using MS Networking for file and print sharing. I was recommended SME server V5 to put on a PC to use as a file server, in 'server only' mode.
The installation went fine and everything was great and it worked lovely. That was until I moved the server into a seperate room. Going through Network Neighborhood in Win98 the file server shows up but when I try and open it I get:
'Enter Network Password.
You must supply a password to make this connection.
Resource: \fileservername\IPC$'
I read similar problems with Win2000 but I have not set up any user accounts on SME server, I just have different I-Bays with data stored and filed in these.
The thing is, one of the PCs accesses the server fine, without being asked for a password. As far as I can tell it is the same configuration as the others yet it works!
Please help,
Grant.

Sorry,
Don't worry about this, I've fixed the problem. Just as well 'cos I'm sure I'd have someone e-mailing and calling me an idiot.
Anyway, the problem is when you set up i-bay names the same as user IDs for Microsoft Networking.
Cheers.
