HEEEELP!
I recently biult a new SME 6.01 server. I was in the process of copying files for the old sever to the new.
I had two folders in ibays smssupport and sme updates.
I recreated these on the new server and coppied all the files is each.
The old server hard drive packed in last nignt after a power cut.
I duly loadup the replacement box.
I now have a problem. I can see both the smesupport and smeupdate folders. The smesupport folder is empty!
If I as root to the folders on the server they are both there and both contain files!
Why can I see the files in one folder and not the other. I have tried adding files via the server and via the ibays all stay visible from each location but not in both.
It seems as though there are two smesupport folders but I cannot see the ibay version via root on the server!
Anyboby know what is going on!

Sounds like a permissions problem.
-
I have already set the folder with chmod to 777
-
do a
ls -la
in the directory and post the result here.
-
here is the results of ls -la
I am logging on with the account martin and do have access to the smesupport folder and can create files in it. I just cannot see the files on the server or from the server the files created in the ibay. Very strange!

Martin,
It appears that you are in the main directory of the i-bay. You need to move the files to either the "files" directory (if you have the i-bay set up fo local access only) or the "html" directory if you have the i-bay set up for internet access.
Good Luck,
Paul

Hi Paul,
You are absolutly correct. In my smesupport ibay the files folder is owned by root and all files created remotly in the ibay are in files folder.
The smeupdates folder is owned by admin and there are no files in smeupdate/files.
The problem is that both folders are behaving differently. How do I bring them both into line and what is the correct format.
I could create a new folder and see what structure that creates I suppose.

Hi Paul,
After further investigation (I have now found the missing files thanks) I think the problem is with the smeupdates folder.
When I view this through the ibays folder from windows the hidden files cgi-bin, files, html are all visible in the folder they are not in smesupport and the newly created ibay.
How do I turn the folders back to invisible.

Martin,
It depends on how the i-bay is set up.
If you set "Public access via web or anonymous ftp" to "No Access" then through windows network neighborhood it jumps you directly to the files directory eg.
/home/e-smith/files/ibays/smesupport/files
If you set "Public access via web or anonymous ftp" to any type of acccess (public or local) then through windows network neighborhood it shows the root of the ibay eg.
/home/e-smith/files/ibays/smesupport
Go into the server-manager and change this setting to "No Access" and it will fix it for you. Then put all files in the files directory and they will become visable.
Note: Windows sometimes remembers old settings (even un-mapped drives). You might have to clear all network connections on your windows machine and re-map everything you want. I dont remember how to do this, someone else may have to chime in here or you can try to search for it.
Good Luck

Thanks Paul,
This helps in my understanding and I can see the reason for the different modes but I checked all the ibays and they were set the same way.
I moved all the files out of smeupdates and removed the ibay. I then recreated as smeupdate but it still appeared with the chi-bin, html and files visible.
I also created ibay server and this has nothing visible.
Very strange.

Hi Paul,
Me again.
You are quite right about Windows. The old smeupdates folder is still showing in explorer but cannot be reached.
The new smeupdate folder has now lost its view of cgi etc.
The primary ibay is still showing its internal file structure. I have set access to ftp via the access panel. Might this be the reason as you cannot alter parameters on the primay ibay.

The primary i-bay is initially set up to contain the primary domain. It is always set to "public access via web" and can't be changed.
If you don't want public access, you have to create a new i-bay and configure it the way you need it.
