Title: addition net driver via rhine
Post by: hanscees on August 14, 2005, 08:15:56 PM
hi,

as you might have red elsewhere on some mini-itx via boards there are via-rhine nics. Some have problems with the via-rhine driver.
However, the rinefet drivers seem to solve these problems.
source is here:
http://www.viavpsd.com/product/Download.jsp?motherboardId=141

for instance in the nic drivers.

It would be really nice if the new distributions could have both drivers in bears so you can choose. I will be happy to test for you.

We're being very strict in 7.0 - the only drivers included are the ones in the CentOS kernel. We simply don't have the resources to maintain the kernel package, and add-on drivers have caused us a lot of pain in upgrades in previous releases.

I suggest you raise a bug at the bugzilla.redhat.com bug tracker to get the updated drivers into the base kernel.

If someone feels like maintaining a repository of updated drivers on contribs.org, that would be a great idea.
